White Sands Surprise Engagement
Taylor and Tyler, a sweet couple from Texas reached out to me about booking a couples session in White Sands National Monument. This being one of my favorite locations I said, “ABSOLUTELY!” They were going on vacation and wanted to have some fun photos to commemorate the trip.
Fast-Forward to a day before our scheduled session, Tyler reached out to tell me he was planning a surprise proposal. Me, being the lush I am, immediately went to purchase some bubbly so we could CELEBRATE after the session. Popping champagne for a photo is always fun and makes for great photos.
Tyler and I chatted about when the “right time” in the session would be to POP the question. I suggested right before the sunset, because that’s when lighting is the BEST. Honestly, this day was a dream. the lighting was beautiful the entire hour we were there.
Like I usually do with my other sessions, I met Taylor and Tyler outside the park and we followed each other in. Sometimes cell service can be a little sketchy out there so I am always sure to communicate beforehand what vehicles we will be in. I had to learn this the hard way once upon a time. We drove in a tad and stopped before the sands were pure, pure. I really love the variety In photos I get when we take some pictures with the sand and natural foliage around. I could tell Tyler was a little nervous, so I kept trying to hint to him that the “lighting want NIIICEEE” even though it wasn’t sunset yet. haha I don’t think he got my hints. After a few minutes at the first stop, we drove in as far as we could and then walked until there was no one in site. He stuck to the original plan, which was of course just fine, I made sure I was ready at all times. Needless to say- It all went off without a hitch.
A few twirls and games of tag later, Tyler was on one knee asking that special question… It was lovely. Taylor was completely caught off guard! IN A GOOD WAY! hahah not gonna lie, the awkwardness of being a third wheel to a proposal gone wrong in a very secluded area has crossed my mind multiple times. Luckily, for tyler and myself, Taylor said “YES” and we enjoyed the rest of the evening and sunset taking photos with the new bling!
